RECREATING THE MEKONG IN SAIGON: A TET STORY FOR EAGLE BRAND
They say you can't fake nostalgia. We spent days navigating the nooks and crannies of the city to prove them wrong. This isn't just a location; it's a feeling captured in the fringes of Saigon
Client: THE BORDEN COMPANY (SINGAPORE)
Service: conceptualization, production and post production
// THE BRIEF: MORE THAN JUST A TET FILM
Every Lunar New Year, the market is flooded with stories of homecoming. But for this project, the mission was deeper: to evoke the soul of a Vietnamese home for those living far abroad. We wanted to position Eagle Medicated Oil not just as a product, but as a "scented memory" engraved in the hearts of every generation.
// THE IDEA
Our story follows Bao, a young man returning from years abroad to find his grandmother suffering from Alzheimer’s. To her, he is a kind stranger. To him, she is his entire childhood. It’s a story of how memories might fade, but the scent of love remains.
// THE SHOOT
When you’re in the thick of video production in Vietnam, you often face the classic duo: tight budgets and tighter timelines. Our creative challenge was to capture the rustic, nostalgic vibe of the Mekong Delta without actually leaving the city.
This is where our location scouting expertise kicked in. We spent days navigating the "nooks and crannies" of Saigon's outskirts. We weren't just looking for a house; we were looking for a feeling. We finally discovered a hidden gem in a far-flung district—a house so authentic that even our Mekong-born crew members felt an immediate wave of nostalgia. This proved that in film production, the right eye can find the right fit anywhere.
Shot entirely in Ho Chi Minh City: Authentic Talent, Real Emotions. To bring this "memory" to life, we collaborated with feature film talents who understood the nuances of Vietnamese family dynamics. There was no "acting" on set—only living. The chemistry between the actors was so raw that by the final scene, there wasn't a dry eye behind the camera.
This project reminds us that at the end of the day, a simple idea executed with perfection across every department—from location scouting to post-production—is what creates a lasting impact.
// THE FINAL NOTES
Music as a Memory. In video production in Vietnam, we often say the eyes see, but the ears feel. To elevate the climax, we integrated a melodic, lingering score that swells just as the memories return. It drove the story home.
A Universal Language. Beyond the target audience, we want the warmth in our frames to be felt by anyone. To us, that is the true beauty of filmmaking: translating a story into a language the heart already knows.
